I Have an Idea!

by Hervé Tullet

New York Times Bestselling Author and World-Renowned Artist Inspires Creatives of All Ages to Find, Cultivate and Share Their Ideas.

“A gifted finder of ideas explains how to track the tricky, elusive things down.” –Kirkus Reviews

Hervé Tullet's innovative books for children astound and delight critics, readers, educators and parents with their ground-breaking interactive magic. International bestsellers such as Press Here and Mix it Up! challenge the very notion of what a book can be, inviting readers to touch, turn and tap the pages which seem to respond as if by magic.

"I Have an Idea! sits on top of the stack of the 85 books I have published. All of the books I have created are contained within it."

Now, with I Have an Idea!, Tullet reveals his creative process, from an initial tentative inkling, to the frustration of chasing the wrong notion, to the exhilaration of capturing—and nurturing—just the right idea.

"Often the ideas come rushing. They can be a bit messy and bubbly"

I Have an Idea! is a celebration of creativity, a gentle nudge to think big, encouragement to embrace imagination, a road map for how to bring an idea to fruition, all with bold, bright, beautiful, colorful illustrations that are Hervé’s trademark, and whimsical, conversational text that will inspire creators of all ages.

“In every good idea, there’s always a seed of madness”

In recent years, Tullet's career as an artist has burst beyond the borders of the printed page. He travels the world staging large-scale collective art projects at museums and schools from Moscow to Malowi. Collaborating with educators a passion for Tullet. He regularly works with teachers at conferences, in workshops, classroom visits and special projects to develop creativity and create connection and community in the classroom. In April 2018, he had the idea to work with the students and staff of PS84 in New York's Upper West Side on a series of workshops and activities called "Blooms of Multiculturalism." The project brought the diverse and divided student body together in ways they hadn't before, and culminated in a building-wide mural created by the students, parents and staff.

Among his numerous awards, in 2018, he was named the Author of the Year at the Chen Bochui International Children’s Literature Awards. He divides his time between France and New York City.
